Generally RFC1483 bridged, VPI=0, VCI=35 will work. But then the router behind
the modem will need the right PPPoE config for the account. Unless by modem
you mean a modem/router. Some carriers use an automatic setup method where the
customer does not actually know their PPPoE username/password.

The important question is will the LEC support a third-party modem? How will
you provision it?

Subject: [AFMUG] DSL Modem Recommendations

Helping a volunteer organization, DSL From the LEC. LEC provided the
modem(Probably at least 5 years old). It's randomly locking up multiple
times per day requiring a power cycle, and it takes about 5 minutes to
reboot. Don't really want to wait through hours of Tier 1 support with
the LEC trying to diagnose a random problem. Any recommendations for a
replacement DSL Modem? Only need wired connectivity, WIFI is done via
UniFI throughout the building. I think I've run across some fancy
nighthawk routers with a built in DSL Modem, but that seems like
overkill. Just need a simple DSL modem. Any recommendations?
