I'm pretty sure Cambium does claim there should be a bit of a performance gain just from upgrading the AP (even if you're still using N clients). If nothing else, latency is about half of what it is with a 1000/2000 AP (using 5ms frames... I haven't tried 2.5ms on the 3000), although I think it's a bit less consistent.
