Did Ring solve their lag problem on the motion detection?
When they first came out, there would be a couple second lag and people would get an alert on their cellphone showing the backside of someone walking away from their door. I got tired of people claiming it was because “my Internet is slow”. That was several years ago though. My brain is frozen in “I hate Ring doorbells” mode, it’s like the old “slowly I turned” vaudeville routine, and the trigger words are “Ring doorbell”. Interesting. So the ring camera sucks on doorbell power but not enough to trigger the original doorbell. So it is 100% backwards compatible with your existing AC powered doorbell. Then when you push the button on the camera it simply shorts out the original doorbell circuit as the original doorbell push button would do. They recommend a 25 ohm 50 watt resistor to be placed in series with the camera if the actual doorbell chime is not in the circuit. Now, I wonder how low you can go with volts and VA on a powering transformer. Go low enough and the resistor will not be needed.
