It's also hard to believe a big hosting company wouldn't provide or at least 
specify the server, I would expect them to just ask for rackspace, power, 
bandwidth, and maybe remote hands on a per-hour basis.

Yeah all of the ones I get just look like someone wanting to make a spam run, 
especially when they say yeah this one low power server needs a /24 worth of IP 
addresses. Yeah right. Either I ignore them or tell them we don't offer that 
service, depends how generous I'm feeling that day.

But there are still legitimate needs for bare metal or dedicated servers; cloud 
service costs can escalate quickly.
