I always wonder about professional sports, we are constantly told our team can win if they want it bad enough, if they just get motivated. It's all a mind game, not skill and training and luck. You'd think NFL players would already be at peak motivation for every game, the carrots and sticks are huge.
I don't know if this is just BS the sports announcers feed us fans, or if they are really saying the players should take more drugs like in North Dallas Forty. No matter what, half the teams are going to lose every week, but we believe the losers just lacked the will to win. Really, an NFL quarterback misses a pass or a kicker misses a field goal because he wasn't sufficiently motivated? Could I outrun Usain Bolt if I was suitably motivated, like if you offered me a huge pile of cash or a bear was chasing me? No amount of motivation will save me, the bear is gonna eat me. -----Original Message----- From: AF <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Matt Hoppes Sent: Friday, October 30, 2020 6:01 AM To: AnimalFarm Microwave Users Group <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [AFMUG] OT compensation I’m personally in the camp of “I’ll do a job because it’s my job and I enjoy it, that’s why I’m here”. As long as I’m making a decent wage, dangling carrots in front of me will do absolutely nothing because I’m already working as hard as I can. -- AF mailing list [email protected] http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -- AF mailing list [email protected] http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com
