I could.   The real problem I'm often trying to avoid is a board spin and
increased labor.

I also probably am way too fussy about what qualifications I need/want to
do before I put a replacement part in service.   Like temperature tests and
the like.   The problem initially was that it sometimes took longer to do
the tests than the stock sat on the shelf at the supplier.   So by the time
I got the qualification work done, the part was out of stock again.
 That's why I ended up doing the 'buy 10, and the backing stock all at the
same time, with the backing stock being on a cancellable scheduled order'
thing.
