Did Ernestine the operator work there?

I actually worked for “The Telephone Company” once upon a time. It was a DBA
of Beehive Telephone Company. They filed for it I think when equal access was
proposed.

hahaha

I recall in the 80's seeing something on 20/20 or 60 Minutes about a phone
company called "I Don't Care."

Apparently if you made a collect call from a pay phone the operator would ask
which carrier to use, and a lot of people would say "I Don't Care".

I think the story was that it ended up in court. The court said they didn't do
anything wrong, so they doubled down and filed paperwork to create a bunch of
additional company names like "Whichever is cheapest" and "Just pick one".

Comcast, or Xfinity? Many people seem to think those are two different

At least in the case of Comcast, they see their "cable business" (NBC
included) as declining value, so they are shifting their revenue stream to the
one thing they have left.
