I think there was a lull in spending during uncertain times, which probably
hurt the supply chain. Probably also someone looking to get in ahead of the
splurge in spending that BEAD would cause.

You’d think throwing $42 billion at the fiber (and maybe wireless) industry
would be good for everyone in the supply chain. But maybe it will bring down
some of the players in the ecosystem or cause consolidation. We might be seeing
the start of this with the distributors. Of course some vendors like Aviat sell
direct, Ubiquiti is selling more and more direct.

I was worried about the possibility that the BEAD reset would push everything
out a year or more and vendors would be wiped out. I guess it’s good that’s not
happening. I really don’t know what’s going to happen, other than I suspect
things won’t change drastically and most of the money will still go to fiber.

Some vendors like Cambium are not doing so great financially but have been
working hard to diversify into fiber, I’m not sure if a BEAD pivot to wireless
would help or hurt them. Tarana is purely wireless AFAIK, and they are
privately held so we really don’t know how they are doing financially. Yes, CAF
paid for a bunch of BNs, but how many RNs are they selling?

If half the BEAD money gets diverted to LEO satellite, then both FWA and fiber
vendors get hurt and only Elon goes home happy. Oh, and there’s always the
tariff problem.

We assume our current vendors will continue to be around no matter what. In
some scenarios, there could be some big cracks in our ecosystem.

DR and Baltic act like they're separate companies but it's clear they aren't.
Same web store software, same items with same quantities, and DR lists the
Baltic street address as their Chicago location. Not clear from public
information who the new owner might be, unless DR bought Baltic, but Mike
indicates someone bought both of them.

I used to buy a lot of stuff from Baltic when it was owned by Brian Vargyas. It
was a short drive from my house to pick up stuff at Will Call. Once upon a time
I bought stuff from DoubleRadius, that was back when Boun Senekham was there.

Has anyone ordered from them since the change in ownership? I ordered about
$1000 worth from them a week ago, they charged my card but have not shipped.
They showed it in stock but now they show out of stock. It’s an EOS item from
the manufacturer so I think they screwed up and won’t be able to fulfill the
order. It was at full price, not a clearance or open box or return.

It seems shady to me that they charged the card before shipping the items, and
they seem to have discovered they don’t have them but they have not informed
me.

If they don’t make it right I guess I can always dispute it with VISA. I’m just
wondering if they are incompetent or crooked or just made an isolated mistake.
