I may get the designations wrong, but Homeplug 1.0 is different from AV which 
is different from AV2.  I think AV and AV2 do interoperate with each other, not 
with original Homeplug though.

Good point.  It was probably 20 years ago when doing the experiments.  I was 
thinking I had to install a capacitor across the legs of a box to get the 
signal to cross over but it turned out that the hot wire was not needed for the 
signal.
