I generally use Southwest for domestic. But I do need international to England
once a year or so.

IMO, the Southwest Visa is the best bet. I put EVERYTHING on it and I
regularly earn companion pass (wife flys free) and I get an additional 8-12
flights per year.

I wonder then if it is best to focus on a single airline and try to optimize
its program?

None of the rewards programs are the same, and the airlines are changing the

I have never played the miles game but I want to learn. What kind of miles
are transferrable between air carriers? What does a “mile” actually equate to
in dollars saved? I presume some credit cards are better for this?
