I rack up airline miles when possible… the miles are “ok” for free stuff but I
want the status – free lounge access, always upgraded to first class etc….
that’s where miles really shine for me … everyone has different priorities…

I'd rather have $1000 cash than $1200 worth of airline tickets. Maybe if it
was double I'd do miles...

That's what I was thinking... can you actually get anymore out of airline miles
than if you just use a card that gives you decent cash back?

Why not just save 1.5% and use the savings?

Not much. I think I have 75000 miles roughly. I think that would buy me one
flight anywhere in the CONUS. Or for maybe 45000 I could upgrade an UPGRADE
ELIGIBLE ticket to first class.

I have never played the miles game but I want to learn. What kind of miles are
transferrable between air carriers? What does a “mile” actually equate to in
dollars saved? I presume some credit cards are better for this?
