I have an egg also, Large size.  Changed my life.  I can run a couple
of butts, or a full brisket, or a full chicken no problem but yeah you
do have a point with the size.  Look at the XL in person to see what
you think you can fit, with a rack the 6 slabs shouldn't be an issue
if you don't mind then standing up on their sides (I run my flat with
a wet baste while cooking).  Look also at the Primo XL oval shape, has
some neat features.  Both will be more flexible than a full smoker in
that you can run low and slow or super hot, but a traditional smoker
is going to hold more.

Know several guys with Traegers and they are happy with them.  Also go
to http://www.firecraft.com/ as they have all sorts of stuff if you
want some more ideas.
