So, what is the answer?  Is it truly transparent.

This is the sort of thing that makes 'real' ISPs scared of ubnt gear - either 
it's a real transparent layer 2 bridge that passes 1600 byte MTUs and handles 
things like OSPF, MPLS, etc between two router interfaces...  Or it's a plastic 
toy.

        On the newer firmware, it's a checkbox labeled "transparent bridging". 
Required for OSPF.
