What I meant was they pretty much give you the residential service and maybe
charge you more for it, although maybe with unlimited data. Maybe they can
give you static IPs, but in some convoluted way, and don’t expect any support.
Oh, you need custom reverse DNS, here’s a login for the self service tool,
figure it out yourself. What, you don’t want WiFi, sorry, it’s built into the
modem, maybe you can figure out how to disable it.

I look at all the customization and support we do for business customers, and I
know the big guys can’t/don’t do that. I think we also work better with their
outside IT guys so stuff just gets done without the customer having to play
general contractor.

You are right, Comcast does have a sales effort focused on business, but I
don’t really think they have stellar support for business customers. I think
some businesses would pay a little more for a little less speed if someone came
in and listened to their needs and provided a custom solution and great
support, rather than a standard package that’s minimally different from
residential service.

Comcast also suffers from their extensive use of contractors. The hole
drilling guy just drills holes. The guy with the shovel just digs. The wire
running guy just runs wires. The modem installing guy just installs modems.
And don’t ask any of them questions about subnets or DNS servers or firewalls,
you’ll have to call phone support about that.

What is their customer service like?

I ask because in our area Frontier and Mediacom are so hated that many people
wouldn’t want them even if they offered 1 Gbps for $1/month. The speed and
price don’t matter when it breaks all the time and they take a week to fix it
and the bill is wrong and they lie to you.

And when it comes to business, I don’t think even AT&T and Comcast cater to
businesses anymore.

Cox is running 1Gbps for $100 a month with an integrated plan. Throw in taxes
and fees and they are closer to $115 plus I think they have some leasing fees
in there. That’s pretty much the most intensive competition I’ve seen.

I think it is bad to offer such a low plan, what is the reason behind it? In
recently polls I have taken the average person is paying $70 a month for
internet access(this is in competitive areas with TWC, ATT, and other options.

  Here's our plans on Fiber..

I'm considering offering a very low tier with high install (to cover
construction costs).

  $10/mth

  $400 install

  10Mbit/10Mbit

  but currently here we are...

  Basic Fiber

  25Mbit/25Mbit

  $44.95

  Professional Fiber

  50Mbit/50Mbit

  $64.95

  Super Fiber 100

  100Mbit/100Mbit

  $99.95

  Super Fiber 200

  200Mbit/200Mbit

  $159.95

In the next 6 months, we will give more and eliminate a plan....but probably.

  Professional Fiber

  100Mbit/100Mbit

  $45.95

  Super Fiber 200

  200Mbit/200Mbit

  $99.95

  Super Fiber 300

  300Mbit/300Mbit

  $159.95

I expect that 6-12 months following that...depending on the competition
(TWC/ATT)...

  Professional Fiber

  200Mbit/200Mbit

  $45.95

  Super Fiber 500

  500Mbit/500Mbit

  $99.95

  Super Fiber 1000

  1000Mbit/1000Mbit

  $159.95

Our cost of bandwidth the higher we go, is considerably less. We'll be
somewhere close to $.40/Mbit in costs to get that to our facility.

  Regards,
  Chuck

That depends on the area. Also, the costs are going *DOWN*

  EPB has 100Mbps FD FTTH for $57.99/mo. 1Gbps is $69.99/mo. 10Gbps is $299/mo

  US Internet is 50Mbps for $39.95/mo, 100Mbps for $47.95/mo, 1Gbps for $65/mo
2.5Gbps for $99/mo, 5Gbps for $199/mo, and 10Gbps is $399/mo

CSpire is $70/mo for 1Gbps wireless (not sure how they are providing this),
and $80/mo for 1Gbps

  AT&T is 80Mbps for $80/mo, or 1Gbps for $110/mo - down to $80/mo for 1Gbps in
markets where it competes or plans to compete with Google Fiber (which is
$70/mo for 1Gbps). That's 18 markets today, 23 markets in 1st part of the year

Here's the Comcast xfinity 2Gbps map (what they claim anyway):
  http://www.xfinity.com/multi-gig-offers.html

DOCSIS 3.1 rollouts are happening now, as well as G.FAST.

Sonic in California has also been rolling out 1Gbps FTTH, although I am
unsure of their pricing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 250Mbps and up in 50+ major US
markets by the end of the year, for under $75/mo.
