A lot of what I have seen is probably just from personal experience, which makes it not too scientific. For example, We typically hardest the UBNT radios and left the Mikrotiks to auto. Things seemed happier this way. The Gigabit specification says it should be auto everything. Sometimes this can have issues between vendors.
