I agree Adam though Cat 6 is designed for greater immunity from cross
talk between the pairs which I suppose will give it some extra overhead
when alien cross talk is present. Here is what Mimosa says, "Most
Ethernet problems we see are related to cabling. The 1000BaseT standard
is far more sensitive to coupled noise than 100BaseT, which is why we
highlight in our documentation that shielded CAT6 is required for
reliable operation."

Cat 5e and Cat6 are both intended to run GigE at 100 meters. Did they
elaborate on why that would make a difference?
I would question them on that before I start sending climbers up, but
I'm an a**hole.

Subject: [AFMUG] Shielded Cat6 recommendation
We recently received a recommendation from Mimosa to replace our
shielded Cat 5 with Cat6. We've been using Shireen lately and they
have a Cat 6 product. What would you use? Has anyone had problems
with using Cat 5 with Mimosa?
