"Utility" is broad "symbol" is broad perhaps they are related?

Utility/usefulness within the context in which they represent. Symbols are like 
c++ pointers. It's interesting when the symbol becomes something in itself.

I think of them in terms of computational resource reducers. But I guess it 
matters what context the symbol "symbol" is being referred to... like internal 
symbolic cognition verse external storage and communication though there are 
parallels there. IMO some symbols are qualia representations, compressed 
impressed samples symbolized for communication representing noncommunicable 
qualia.
