That paper on AGI creation was a fun-ish read (https://arxiv.org/abs/1905.10985). It started off good talking about AGI and the parts that make it up. It however mentioned the mainstream building blocks, mine are different somewhat, I don't use Backprop! I have like 9 building blocks, and guess what, they all fit perfectly together, and only 1 way too, unlike what he mentions about mainstream's. The paper ..... then goes on saying generating AGI instead of us manually thinking it up is faster. Listen, this doesn't even exist, listen! Brute Force is the slowest search for AGI, you give it no hints. The generator he talks about is not brute force, it uses hints, just like a BRAIN. It merges ideas (champion algorithms), it is told to only generate or tweak hierarchical networks, etc. A brain can do better generating AGI than some stupid "generator" that isn't a brain! Why do you think this generator is so smart that it can find you AGI !? It can't, it won't do anything, cure cancer, invent TVs, invent better rockets, it's not AGI, and if it can then it is a brain/AGI. To search faster you need pattern hints, and therefore any smart algorithm is more and more brain like. He mentions 3 pillars, which don't even make sense, learning, learning to learn, and environments. It's just data, 1# it collects data, 2# generates its own internally from the desired domain, and 3# where to collect from the external world too. That's AGI. The 1st pillar is the most important, 3rd is least important, it is old evolution, brains are the new breeding ground. We don't want to let brains evolve in a big world, it's too slow. The evaluation of what is intelligence is pattern - how long you survive and clone, repeating. Clearer: surviving in diverse environments. Clearer: Lossless Data Compression, if you can find patterns well then you can predict really good and know how to live longer in your world. Reward is still used for data prediction, no body RL here not talking about that do note. DNA/ brains store mutations and "learn", brains are better though because they capture data by sensors, DNA just merges DNAs and tries it out - finding good new bigger pattern is not so fast this way..
