Immortality is not possible in a finite universe. The observable universe has enough mass/energy to support 10^90 bit write operations. Human long term memory is 10^9 bits. There is only enough computing power to support 10^81 human lifespans.
And forget cryonics. Do you want to preserve an old body with whatever disease killed you, or do you want to freeze your body now while you are still young and healthy? The real problem is that evolution programmed you to fear death and then die. Reprogramming your goals would be easier.
