The most common causes of death in young people are drug overdoses, car accidents, suicide, and homicide. There is not enough data now (and might never be) to say whether dietary changes now will make any difference in 30 years.
As for athletic performance (something you can measure now vs lifespan), I've seen lots of theories. The one that seems to work best is to listen to your body. It will tell you what you need with regard to food and recovery from training. The body is adaptive in nearly every way imaginable. Exercise addresses the root cause of metabolic disorder, marked by obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides and high blood sugar. There are drugs that treat the markers, which is all they need to show for FDA approval. They have not been shown to extend life because that takes too long. Find something that is both physically active and fun, because if it isn't fun you will quit it in a month.
