People wonder why there is so much suffering in the world when technology has been so advanced and the elimination of suffering is always in the future? Discussions around AI alignment typically avoid the intricacies of what drives it, profit as you say, mainly financial, and the whole fabric that profit is a part of. We say AI will give us better this and that, faster, healthier, happier, everything we want, it's only going to get better. They won’t delve into the existing monetary systems that it has been ingrained in, indebted to and ultimately protecting. Why is that? Because the profit seekers are trapped in the very system that produces the suffering and they won’t bite the hand that feeds them.
