There are lots of content contributors to the web,
if they could instead be coaxed to contribute programming content,
then we could have nice. ya HSPL yada yada lol.

Also actually skilled human programmers have been getting cheaper,
due to outsourcing and the various "bubble bursts",
often seem to go hand in hand with reducing wages.

Certainly can't claim wages are increasing.
I know as both my parents are programmers,
skilled "Senior Developers" I might add,
and even major companies like HP,
like to implement "austerity measures".

I remember a few years back, when the bailouts happened,
they decided to just cut everyone's salary by 15% just like that.
No questions asked, it was either submit or get fired.

My mom even has to help train oversea outsourced people in India.

Open source gives a certain measure of free labour,
though fact a large bulk of open source code is written by people that get
paid to do it.
Typically by various companies.

Hopefully the bidding feature-request forum I have on back-burner may help
to make it more of a crowd-funded donations-based kinda thing. Even a few
dollars can go a long way to motivating someone to write a patch.
