My own take on the Fermi Paradox is this:

Every technological civilization ultimately faces the same problem: keeping irrelevant entropy at bay and thus the tendency of that society to disorder/collapse.

It might be a common problem in this universe that the flood of information and the technology a somewhat advanced civilization brings forth is too much for it to handle.

The only solution I would see in order to efficiently keep the upper hand is to develop AGI and or brain enhancements but we probably all agree that this is probably of the same difficulty. It would need a more intelligent agent in order to reduce local entropy of our society back to sane levels ... just like a child needs more intelligence to solve more complex puzzles ... i.e. to reduce local entropy.

Societies throughout our universe might have evolved very similarly to us and also share the same problems and socioeconomic ideas. They might all feature AGI mailing lists and people trying to create actual AGI system but they might all be doomed because the threshold of collapse before the time AGI becomes reality might have already been reached. Meaning that no matter what we/I do or say the process of disorder might be in its final stage and not stoppable in time before AGI is "born". You can watch this disorder based on irrelevant entropy/concepts/ideas/memes/goals everywhere on this planet.

Our competitive socioeconomic framework is the biggest contributor of irrelevant entropy/chaos as Tom Campbell explains during the first 10 minutes of this interview (see below) and changing it to a cooperative could be the real game changer in order to reduce existential risks to a manageable level and to gain enough time to work on AGI in a cooperative way with safety being the most important aspect.
