Most Kickstarter's success stories rely on the fact that people who donate 
money receive something in return, for example if the project is a video-game, 
they will receive the game once it's finished. I don't see what OpenCog could 
promise to its backers. That said, fundraising is indeed a worthy option to 
look at, which Ben Goertzel is well aware of. Seeing how fast things have 
evolved in the last years concerning fundraising platforms, it may be 
interesting to check what is being done today. Here are some websites I know of:
