Minecraft is probably the simplest example of a system complex enough to support a general AI. I've been whining about this problem for ten years and haven't been able to make any headway on my finances (my check card was declined when I tried to buy $30 of groceries this morning) and I haven't been able to make any headway on the My current state of mind is to try to bootstrap me a company to develop the necessary stuff... Skyrim is awesome in terms of graphics and scale, but isn't really a world simulator as most things are either immutable or static in some sense. The avatar system is severely limited and it has a number of flaws that limit it's usefulness... If you try to use a lumber mill, you will notice four logs on the top of the pile when you start the mill... It will animate the process of milling planks gorgeously but then you notice that there are still four logs on the top of the pile... the log that you had sent through the mill had been replaced by the game's engine so the state of the world didn't really change. So yeah, Skyrim that was as malleable as Minecraft would be teh awesomez for AGI development. Skyrim cost $80M to develop, and was produced by a well-established company with plenty of experience in the genre. I registered the site numentics.com but am trying to figure out how to program it... I want the site in 3D using the X3dom javascript-based VR engine or similar... To make sure It gets done, I might be able to get a business loan and get it done... Will probably cost about half a million and then another half-million to keep the lights on while I scramble around for more capitol, or to bootstrap an income stream off of the 3D website... The goal is to either directly be my AGI project or to have enough overlap with what I need to be my AGI project... =\ My point is that the reason why I haven't done this already isn't because I didn't want to, or didn't know how, but that I haven't been able to attract/obtain the resources/collaborators I needed to make this shit work.
