Alex, I've appreciated your messages and hope you'll continue to post.

Alan, let's try to keep the tone a little more pleasant huh?  Criticizing
Alex's work is perfectly appropriate, but just saying "I don't like it
because it reminds me of Cyc" isn't really a meaningful criticism.
[Especially because his work actually is very different in approach from
Cyc, with its strong statistics & machine learning focus...!!]

About Cyc: I have my differences with Cyc's philosophy, but Stephen Reed's
Cognitive Cyc project is very interesting to me.  And I have to give Cyc
credit for being a serious attempt at AGI even though I disagree with much
of its underlying philosophy..

As for Alex's work, I think it sounds like solid narrow-AI work, with
possibilities of being a (business & technical) platform for AGI in the
future.  If the business practicalities worked out, it would be interesting
to collaborate with his group, which seems to be building an excellent
practical framework for experimentation with self-improving chat-based AI.
