Aye, I think the reaction is more to an apparent unwillingness to learn about such things. If I discover I might need to learn about something important, I head to Google straight away. I don't want to spend time learning a lot of things I probably should learn, but the universe doesn't care what I want and so I get right to it. Seems rational to me.
