I'm not sure for myself what I think of this complexity argument, so I don't have anything to say about your answer except to wish you luck (if Richard is right, you'll need a lot of it; if many paths lead up the hill then you might not need much at all). I am curious what you mean by "high level brain patterns" though. Could you give an example?
