It is where the interests of others is more valuable than an individual's
life. Ancient Rome had the entertainment interests of the masses at a higher
value than those being devoured by lions in the arena. I would say that
computers and machines interests today in many cases now are of similar
relational circumstances in some cases.

Our herd mentality makes it easy for rights to be taken away and at the same
time it is accepted and defended as necessary and an improvement. Example -
anonymity and privacy = gone. Sounds paranoiacal but there are many that
agree on this.

It is an icky subject, easy to ignore, and perhaps something that hinders
technological "progression".
