I'm having a blank background on certain sprint backlogs in the new
backlog. Felix suggested I post to the group as a whole. Backlogs work
fine in the old view. Not every backlog has this problem, however we
have eliminated every link between tickets with remaining hours so
that only tasks have hours. This did not fix the problem.

this sounds a bit worrying for sure and I'd like to make sure that the
Sprint backlog still works in this case.
