I think bs has the right idea. You need to have a good talk with your mechanic on where he is with the job and what the obstacles to completion are and what you expect from him and whether he thinks he can meet your needs, but failing that... Have you considered making arrangements to take it somewhere else? There is undoubtedly more than one shop in the Chicago area that can do the work. I don't have any current first-hand experience with Chicago area shops but I'm reasonably sure you could get alternate recommendations from the local CAROC chapter members. Of course moving it would depend on what, if anything, has been done to the car already. If nothing, it's easier than if the engine has been pulled and the timing belt is off. I've had some experience with people who don't deliver on their promises. I tend to be a really patient guy, but I have my limits. If I was in your shoes, my patience would have been used up a couple of months ago. My experience has been that when a project goes off schedule and you are trying to manage it from a distance, things rarely improve. Hi ! i had my 164 trailered to Chicago (~250 miles) to get the timing belt and cam angle sensor replaced by someone who knows what he's doing, & while there the clutch & windshield. That was JANUARY ! i call him occasionally and he always says it will be done in the next week or two. Anyone have any experience or ideas about how to get the guy to get my car done ?? thanks, jak doskow -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected] -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
