I hit send as I noticed Ben Ament's email. I do want to add that should you feel your steering behaving oddly for heavens sake do not pull back on the steering wheel. If anything, push down on it to make sure the tab stays between the opening's edges. However, since the center tang can only move so far to the left and right (about 1/8" each way is all), slow down and head either back home or to a welder/mechanic. If you get pulled over for drunk driving, you have a very good excuse (unless of course you really are drunk). I'm sure Alfa designed it this way so that you won't have a complete failure, but it does feel weird when it lets go.
