This is important for all of you driving Alfetta GT's and GTV6's: If you suddenly feel slack in the steering as in, for instance, you're turning right and for a brief instant, nothing happens, that means the rubber is no longer holding the shaft from the upper U-joint to the metal housing (and portion of the lower U-joint) for the rubber piece. That said if You Do Not Pull Out On the Steering Wheel you will have roughly 90 - 95% control of the steering. Pull the steering back even a 1/4" (and why would you?) and you now have zero control. So If you feel this looseness, simply keep your cool and keep driving, though you might want to get in the slow lane if on a freeway. And I want to add - just to make sure that we're all clear on this - that if you do loose control, it's because you pulled back on the steering wheel. Simply weld it - I suggest on both front/back - and keep your seatbelt on and close to your body.
