Jan: My USA spec 71 Spider was a 1750; I don't believe they sold any other
engine in this market, such as a 2000, which may well have been sold in
other countries. So, perhaps the issue you're having is like trying to put a
round peg in a square hole and discovering the fit isn't ideal. Who knows
what they had in mind re: the water pump on the various size engines; they
may have had some kind adaptation for a 2000 not needed in a 1750 and not
standard in the USA. Or not. Doesn't seem likely but then, neither does a
spray from a nice, new part. Bears looking into.

Can you loosely start all four screws then go back and tighten them fully?
That would allow some wiggle to get them all aligned.

Subject: [alfa] 1750 waterpump

(1750 engine in 1971 2000 spider)

replacement 10 year old pump bearing went (major bearing noise and
wobble of pump shaft - pulley) and made a nice spray flinging off the
pulley

nice new made in italy pump for "cheap" from IAP - needed to wait to get
(difficult) one 45mm M6 stud because the boss between heater and recirc
spigots was not faced to 35mm

so after cleaning engine and touching up detail, careful priming etc...

surprise - new pump from get-go is also flinging nice spray - admittedly
it is a higher quality "finer" dispersion, however - very depressing

any ideas?
