Yeah very sad, I knew it wasn’t being updated as the tap can’t support audio calls and so on. As for the product being discontinued? Well there may have been a whole variety of reasons from Amazon’s point of view and the first that comes to mind is the very short battery life by today’s standards particularly when you have the Tap monitoring all the time for your voice, it just doesn’t last very long. I’m playing music now through the Econ 2nd generation and as you say, its got a nice robust sound even though its in mono which means that this echo will sound pretty good with just about everything you throw at it. If I want stereo sound from my echo then I have the Heos skill installed which allows me to stream from the echo to any one of my Heos devices.
