I think the flat rate is $9 monthly. This is Callcentric's rate, there are cheaper voice over internet providers, but I use Callcentric for better call quality. You can set up the recordings to conform to your desires and local law (notifications or not, automatic recording or not). You will be able to record outgoing calls very easily but will need to forward your cellular phone to do incoming call recording from the cellular network. The somewhat less costly solution, less costly in money, that is, is something like incredible PBX http://incrediblepbx.com/ This will allow you to get more capabilities, spend less money, but requires more work. You can record any sort of internet telephony with this, whether that's from your computer, a mobile phone, a desk phone, etc. Again, you can record cellular service by forwarding incoming calls to your number at the Incredible PBX machine. The cost is somewhere between free and $60 depending on what you want, the cost is for hardware, I think Incredible PBX is free in itself. The cost in time is higher, Incredible PBX does have a learning curve. You mentioned, in another message, Audacity. You can, of course, use any recording application for the PC with Stereo Mix or Virtual Audio Cable to record calls placed from or to the PC itself. This is easier with things like Total Recorder http://www.totalrecorder.com particularly if your soundcard doesn't have a stereo mix option. I would say, though, that this is not the best way of recording, since it will not allow you to record from your phone, whether cellular or fixed, without conferencing in the PC, will not allow you to record anything when your PC is off, and will not permit automatic recording without a great deal of setup. There are two other options, both of which I have never used. The first is one of the many conferencing applications. Just for example https://www.gotomeeting.com/en-ca/audio-conferencing or https://www.uberconference.com/features/record_conference_calls These work but are not private, not automatic, and may have issues starting up in a covert case. There are also call recorders for rooted Android devices. See, just for example, https://www.boldbeast.com/android/call_recorder.html There are, of course, a ton of programs which will record from the microphone, but that's not really recording a call, it's recording the sound around your phone. Given that I use GroundWire and a PBX, I haven't used any of the rooted Android recorders, but that's not because they're useless, merely because I don't need them. I have found no reasonable way of transcribing calls, Dragon fails, and all the other options I've seen are not private. Some charge, but the problem here is the lack of verifiable privacy, I don't know how to get around that. I would be deeply grateful for any solutions to that problem. HTH, Aman and so n. I I don't have any experience doing this so definitely feel free to pry and ask any questions for clarification. In terms of my cell provider, I use Verizon. Both exist, you understand, my point isn't to rule out one option, I just want to know which you're looking for specifically. I may also say that recording is easy, automatic transcription is fairly hard. Also, if I may ask, what is your budget for this? Finally, relating specifically to the cell, what phone and network are you wanting to use? HTH, Aman From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Drew Hunthausen Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2018 12:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [all-audio] call recorders Hi list, Wanted to put this out there as I don't know if anything exists. I'm looking for either a stand alone unit or software to record phone calls either through a landline call, internet phone, or cell. If possible I would also like something with an option to have the audio translated to text. Again don't know what is out there, but would love your thoughts.
