I tried removing the user data dir as you directed and it's made things more
consistent.
The steps are now the same for both OOo-dev and 2.4.1:
1. Start OOo
2. Use File -> Open to open the test.odt downloaded from this issue
3. File opens showing date formatted as "June 19, 2008"
4. double click on date bringing up "Edit Fields: Document" dialog
5. Click "Additional formats..." in Format column, opening the "Number Format"
dialog
6. Select "31. December 1999" from "Format" column
7. Remove '.' from text in "Format code" text box leaving "D MMMM YYYY"
8. Click "OK" returning to "Edit Fields: Document" dialog.
"31 December 1999" shows as selected in the "Format" column
9. Click "OK" closing "Edit Fields: Document" dialog
BUG: The date is *still* formatted as June 19, 2008
10. double click on date bringing up "Edit Fields: Document" dialog
11. select "12/31/99" from "Format" column
12. Click "OK" closing "Edit Fields: Document" dialog
13. The date is now formatted as 06/19/08
14. double click on date bringing up "Edit Fields: Document" dialog
15. Click "Additional formats..." in Format column, opening the "Number Format"
dialog
16. Select "31. December 1999" from "Format" column
17. Remove '.' from text in "Format code" text box leaving "D MMMM YYYY"
18. Click "OK" returning to "Edit Fields: Document" dialog.
"31 December 1999" shows as selected in the "Format" column
19. Click "OK" closing "Edit Fields: Document" dialog
20. the date is finally formatted as 19 June 2008
21. close by clicking X in top right of document, then clicking "Save" to save
changes.
22. Use File -> Open to open test.odt
23. Date shows as "June 19, 2008"
Now it becomes really interesting. I thought just for good measure I'd test on
one of my MacBook Pros using OOo 3.0.0 Beta.
Guess what? *Exactly* the same behaviour as above.
So, I don't think this is windows related anymore.
I'm *definitely* using the file attached to this issue since it's how I got the
file onto both this PC and the MacBook Pro ;-)
I wonder maybe if it does have something to do with the locale.
How do I find out what locale I'm using?
What locale are you using?
