------- Additional comments from [email protected] Sat Apr 24 12:41:04 +0000 2010 ------- Currently, Writer's auto-correct rules for hyphens and dashes do not, by default, allow users to easily utilize all three characters in a flexible way. In order to provide users with a more flexible, yet still efficient method, I propose a set of auto-correct rules similar to the following: a-a = a<hyphen>a a--a = a<en>a a---a = a<em>a a - a = a <hyphen> a a -- a = a <en> a a --- a = a <em> a I cannot tell you how many people I have heard and read about, who complain about the inflexibility of the current setup. I understand that these rules can be set up by users who know how, and many have. I still feel it is important to provide this kind of usability out-of-the-box. If not these specific rules, then something equally as easy to access. Manually inserting special characters (or on windows using alt codes) does not feel very intuitive or user-friendly to me. Please consider the problem and possible solution.
