It's easy to go down the wrong path here. And I've learned to be suspicious
of everyone (sorry) in this regard. 

 

A noted author wrote of Crocus imperati "But, truly named, it lords over it
all."  

 

But the name of the crocus is based on the name of the  Italian botanist
Imperato. 

 

The wikipedia entry for Baccharis says this: "The genus is named after
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionysus> Bacchus, the Roman god of wine."
