Re: dwarf roses I have tried two of these and found them to be just as susceptible to disease as the tea roses. Re: New Books I always treat myself to a Christmas present of new books, and have just finished one I'd like to recommend: The Book of Little Hostas, 200 Small, Very Small, and Mini Varieties. A collaboration between a New York couple, Kathy Guest Shadrack and Michael Shadrack with Diana Grenfell of Britain as consultant editor, this is primarily a gallery of the tiny ones. These tiny plants are my answer to rock gardening/container gardening/trough gardening in a challenging climate. I own a representative sample of the ones pictured in the book. It is a wonderful hobby that can become an obsession. I had been waiting for someone to write this book. Elin Johnson
