I just had a modest pot of plants & picked the styles as the flowers faded - 
you don't need much saffron in most recipes.

I have harvested & used the styles of C. cartwrightianus for culinary
purposes - there's no difference from normal saffron except that they're
shorter in length so you need more of them.
