I'm currently having some fairly horrendous problems getting alsa to work with a SB Live! card. The system is red hat 7.2 with kernel 2.4.19; the alsa driver package is 0.9.0rc7; /proc/pci gives "Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10K1 (rev.7)".
The install of driver, lib and utils proceeds without a hitch; I run alsaconf, which successfully detects the card and configures /etc/modules.conf; the modules all load without any obvious issues (nothing suspicious in either the output of dmesg or /var/log/messages - except for a mention that the card is sharing IRQ 5 with two other cards.) I open a mixer application and crank up the levels (just before someone asks!). Everything OK: the modules load perfectly. But - no sound at all, from any application which I've tried so far. (The native emu10k1 driver in the 2.4.19 kernel source (built as a module) works fine.) After wrestling with this for the entire week-end, I'm basically out of ideas. If anyone's got any clues, or has seen similar issues, I'd be really grateful to hear about it. (I should point out that, on my machine at work, which contains an Ensoniq es1371 card, I got alsa 0.9.0 to work without a problem.) -- Peter Duffy ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.NET email is sponsored by: SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! http://www.vasoftware.com _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
