Ah...  Another person runs crashing into the bewildering array of SB
Live mixer controls.  There should be a mixer channel (actually a
switch) marked something like "ADC/DAC loopback" - try muting/unmuting
that and see what happens (muting toggles switches in the mixer).

If you're still not having any luck, I can send you my asound.state
file, but that's only known working on my setup with plain old stereo
analogue speakers.
