Altos-droid is the only tracking program I know of that can reliably cache maps
for offline use, ie. Can usesomething like a Wi-Fi only Android device with
equal aplomb sans an internet link.
Too bad there isn't a slider switch on the TeleBT to decode APRS. ;-) You'd
sell a fair amountto the 70cm GPS tracker set (a' la Beeline GPS).  Can't beat
Velcro-ing it to the Yagi boom!
I didn't get a chance to fly my Tele-GPS at MWP 13 but did fly a homemade LOC
tubed, laminated plywood finned38MD with an EggTimer TRS tracking on a J350
with the Android App, GPS Rocket Locator.  Only problem with that program is no
mapping without an internet connection.  Tried to cache maps at home but no
deal.  Went to 8567' even though the rail guide bound on the rail (my stupid
fault not the guides)
I will give it credit that even with a blank screen, it still gave two position
dots and a course line to follow.  Only problem isI didn't see the three deep
drainage ditches I had to fiord.   I should have flown the Go Devil 38 with the
Tele-GPS/AltosDroid combo but I  really wanted to see if my fins would stay on,
on the other project.  (They did and it will fly again.)
The maps with Alto-Droid will make a very big difference in planning a recovery
route.  Sometimes straight too is not the best!!

It downloads the list of launch sites from our machine; you might wait a
bit and see if it appears later.

AltosDroid doesn't care what you use to get telemetry; the maps are all
the same.

If you get stuck, you can type in the lat/lon of the launch site and
load from there; there's no difference in the result.

Offline maps will be covered with little 'copyright google' text
everywhere.
