I have been able to trigger altimeters by using a vacuum cleaner held
against one of the vent holes (and plugging the others).

You can make one easily enough -- anything that is airtight where you
can change the volume in a measurable way. For testing little
altimeters, I use a syringe with a stopper.
Just wondering, do you know if the firmware have a "self-test" mode
available? My initial idea was to carry the repaired telemega inside another
rocket payload bay to test it but maybe you have a better procedure?
That will certainly be better than almost anything you can do on the ground...
