Ugh, what a horrible solution. My update to chg-zd-mtx actually looks at
"mt status" and goes on when the drive is ready.
For any interested parties, I haven't finalized the update because I'm
tracking a weird problem where the drive never comes online. It's hard to
trace because it only happens every 2 weeks right now. I'm guessing that
it's related to the HP's ability to clean itself on demand, which is hard
to replicate for testing ;( I'll get it out soon.
