>On doing amanda check - I get the following errors.
>ERROR: gnu.office.webstar.co.uk: [addr 192.168.1.2: hostname lookup failed]
This says Amanda tried to do a lookup of IP address 192.168.1.2 on
gnu.office.webstar.co.uk and it failed. Fix your DNS or /etc/hosts or
whatever you're using to do hostname <-> IP translation.
>ERROR: emerald.office.webstar.co.uk: [DUMP program not available]
>ERROR: emerald.office.webstar.co.uk: [RESTORE program not available]
Look at /tmp/amanda/amandad*debug on emerald.office.webstar.co.uk. At
the front is a line like this (from my system):
DUMP="/usr/sbin/ufsdump" RESTORE="/usr/sbin/ufsrestore"
Look for those programs on emerald.office.webstar.co.uk and I'm betting
they do not exist, yet you told Amanda to use them with "program dump".
That, or you won't find lines like this in the file which means when
you configured Amanda on that machine the programs were not found.
So, you either need to switch to GNU tar, or install those programs on
that machine and possibly reconfigure/reinstall Amanda there.
>ERROR: emerald.office.webstar.co.uk: [can not read/write /etc/dumpdates: No
>such file or directory]
Touch this file and make sure it is writable by the Amanda user or group.
Or switch to GNU tar.

>WARNING: ws3.office.webstar.co.uk: selfcheck request timed out. Host down?
See the FAQ at www.amanda.org. There are several causes for this and
it goes through the various things to check.
