Newbie help please with amdump error message

Hi

I've just installed amanda for the first time. A test amdump gives me the following 
report...

FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY:
  localhost        /etc lev 0 FAILED [disk /etc offline on localhost?]

Any light-shining would be appreciated
