I started running samba backups a few days before I ran across the first reference to a problem with gnutar 1.13. It turns out that's the version that runs on my smbclient host, yet the indexes displayed by amrecover and the two or three test recoveries that I've tried have worked fine. Are there special circumstances in which gnutar 1.13 fails? Thanks. Robert L.
