Maybe not a nitpick but more major feature add. I'm having a great deal of difficulty backing up a laptop's 3 DLEs and a VirtualBox guest on the same laptop. It is not an amanda problem but a network one. When the two go idle they do not respond to network activity. So of course amanda "Fails" them. The laptop is not going into suspend or hibernate mode. Heck, I've even disabled any screensavers. I've also tried setting the bios to have "WakeOnLAN" active and sent suitable packets but no response. One thing that has worked (most of the time :) is to ssh from each of the two clients to the amanda server before I set the laptop aside and go to bed. So, I wonder if there is any way to backup a COD (Client On Demand)? I envision a request from the client would start a dump to holding disk which would require 'autoflush' for the taping to occur later. Consideration would also have to be made for additional COD requests coming in while an earlier COD was in progress. Jon -- Jon H.
